But we are not just coming to attend. We are coming to teach.

At AffiliateCon, we will be sharing the Rx Methodology, our systematic approach to teaching coaches how to coach jump rope as a stand-alone skill. Our goal is to give coaches a framework they can take back to their affiliates and use to help members develop better movement, greater confidence, and real proficiency with a jump rope.

Bringing the Rx Methodology to AffiliateCon

Think about how we teach other movements inside an affiliate.

When an athlete learns an Olympic lift, we do not simply hand them a barbell and tell them to keep trying until they figure it out. We teach positioning. We break down mechanics. We use drills and progressions. We help athletes understand how the movement should look and feel before asking them to perform it under greater speed, load, or intensity.

Gymnastics is approached in much the same way.

So why should jump rope be different?

For too long, jump rope has often been treated as something athletes are expected to figure out on their own.

Grab a rope. Start jumping. Try a double under. Miss. Try again.

If an athlete struggles, coaching cues often become some version of “jump higher,” “spin faster,” or “relax.”

Those cues might occasionally help, but they do not give the athlete or coach a clear understanding of what is actually preventing success.

We believe there is a better way to coach jump rope.

The Rx Methodology treats jump rope like any other athletic skill: establish the foundation first, then progressively develop the athlete from there.

Positioning, Mechanics, and Timing

Before worrying about double unders or advanced skills, we focus on three foundational elements:

Positioning. Mechanics. Timing.

Positioning provides an athlete an effective start-off. Coaches learn to identify and teach proper body, arm, hand and rope positions. Positioning adjustments of a few centimeters can make a big difference in how efficiently the rope travels around the athlete.

Mechanics are about how the athlete creates and maintains motion. Instead of using lots of arm movement or expending energy trying to force the rope around the body, athletes learn efficient movement patterns that allow the body and rope to work together.

Then comes timing, one of the most important and often misunderstood elements of jump rope.

Successful jump rope is a coordination skill. The athlete must learn to synchronize the jump with the rotation of the rope. Speed alone will not solve poor timing. In many cases, trying to move faster simply magnifies the problem.

Once these foundational elements are established, coaches have something incredibly valuable: a starting point for progression.

Building Skills Through Progression

One of the central ideas behind the Rx Methodology is that athletes should not have to rely on endless trial and error.

There should be a pathway.

Our progression-based approach helps coaches take foundational movement and build upon it with skills that challenge an athlete’s coordination and rope control in a logical sequence.

Instead of viewing success only through the lens of “Can you do double unders?” we can recognize smaller skills and improvements that ultimately lead to proficiency.

That changes the learning experience.

An athlete who previously felt like they were constantly failing can begin seeing progress. They understand what they are working on, why they are working on it, and what comes next.

With each progression, they build something beyond a single jump rope skill.

They build coordination, confidence, and proficiency.

Performing is Not the Same as Coaching

There is a big difference between being able to perform a skill and being able to teach someone else how to perform it.

A coach may be able to knock out hundreds of double unders and still struggle to explain why a member cannot get their first one.

That is where methodology becomes so important.

A coaching system gives you a framework for observing movement, identifying problems, selecting the appropriate correction, and giving athletes a progression that addresses what they actually need.

Instead of simply saying “keep practicing,” coaches can begin asking better questions.

Is this a positioning issue? Are the mechanics inefficient? Is the athlete struggling with timing? What progression should come next?

When coaches understand what they are looking for, jump rope becomes something they can actually coach rather than simply prescribe.

Why This Matters for Affiliates

Every affiliate has members who dread seeing jump rope in a workout. Some have struggled for months or years without understanding why they cannot make progress.

That frustration can quickly turn into avoidance.

But when a coach gives that member a clear path forward, the experience changes.

Instead of repeatedly failing at the same skill, the athlete begins accomplishing smaller, achievable progressions. They understand the movement. They become more coordinated with the rope. Most importantly, they begin believing they can learn the skill.

That is what great coaching does.

It helps athletes experience progress.

Why AffiliateCon?

AffiliateCon brings together affiliate owners, coaches, athletes, and leaders who want to become better at what they do.

The three-day event features respected leaders from across the CrossFit and fitness community sharing practical knowledge and experience attendees can bring back to their communities.

For affiliate owners, it is an opportunity to discover strategies for building stronger businesses and communities. For coaches, it is a chance to sharpen their craft. For athletes, it is an opportunity to become better movers.

And for all of us, it is a chance to connect with people who care deeply about coaching and the future of the affiliate community.

Come Learn the Rx Methodology

At Rx Smart Gear, we have spent years designing jump ropes for athletes, but we have also spent those years studying how athletes learn to jump rope.

Because great equipment is only part of the equation.

Great coaching matters.

If you are a coach who has watched members struggle with jump rope and wondered how to better help them, come learn with us at AffiliateCon 2026.

We will show you how to approach jump rope as a coachable stand-alone skill, establish the foundational elements of positioning, mechanics, and timing, and use progressions to help athletes develop coordination, confidence, and proficiency.

You will leave with a framework you can take back to your affiliate and begin putting into practice with your members.

Because the goal is not just more double unders.

It is about better coaches creating more capable, confident athletes.
